A Hard Year

Now that summer has come

I welcome you home to my heart

In the autumn when you left

I felt it would fall apart

When the bitter winds of winter

Visited on this land

The cruel pains within my chest

Tightened like a steel band

And then in the springtime

When the growth is strongest

Even after equinox

My nights seemed longest

Now that summer has come

I welcome you home to my hearth

And nothing in gods’ creation

Will ever keep us apart
